Southern Fire Exchange: Fire Weather Webinar

Southern Fire Exchange (SFE) Webinar: Overview of Fire Weather Products for Controlled Burners

Hey Folks:

Here is an excellent chance to hear two of N.C.s own, Scott Kennedy and Corey Davis, give updates on National Weather Service (NWS) and Climate Office products.  For NWS, the Fire Weather Dashboard (formerly known as the Fire Poker) will take center stage.  As one burner put it:  “it is the closest thing to getting a spot forecast you can get without getting a spot forecast.”  Corey will be presenting an overview of the Fire Weather Intelligence Portal, focusing on more recent updates such as the 7 day forecast for large fuel moistures and fire danger indices.

Description: This webinar will provide an overview of the National Weather Service fire weather forecast products and tools as well as the Fire Weather Intelligence Portal. Presentations will include a discussion about the intended uses and caveats for each of the products. Following the presentations there will be time for audience Q/A with the speakers.
