Hoke Community Forest is thought to be the only community-owned Forest in the SE! The NC Sandhills Prescribed Burn Association (SPBA) has taken the lead for its restoration which includes thinning, RX fire, and planting. It used to be old International Paper land and now the County of Hoke owns it and we’re restoring it. As part of the restoration we are hosting a SPECIAL community tree planting day on December 3rd which will also have other education stations on animal ID, plant/tree ID, careers in forests, etc.!
